Specialty Oils Descriptions

Acquisitio - In Latin, Acquisitio means "gain", and that's where English gets the word "acquisition". When you need to acquire success, money, luck, or favor, or even if you're after a particular job or object, this oil can help you channel the energy of this beneficent geomantic figure.

Albus - Albus is the figure associated with wisdom, clarity, and clear communication. It represents the wisdom of the elders and of the prophets and is a fine ally when you need to tap into this wisdom and clarity.

Amissio - In Latin, Amissio means "loss". When it shows up in a geomancy reading and your question is about money, it's not usually very good news. However, in non-material endeavors, sometimes loss is exactly what you want. Need a little spiritual help shedding an unwanted person, some unwanted pounds, a bad habit, or an unwanted attitude? Amissio can help.

Caput Draconis - Caput Draconis is the figure associated with good fortune and new beginnings. When you need good fortune, need to keep good fortune, are looking for a new beginning, or want to celebrate a new beginning, this oil is for you.

Carcer - Carcer is associated with restriction, prison, delays, confinement, and bondage -- good old Saturn! While this can sometimes indicate a learning experience, it's not often a pleasant one. If you want to introduce a little good old fashioned justice into the life of somebody who has done wrong, aim a little of this oil's energy in their direction. (You can dress a paper with their name on it, or even contrive to get some on their doorknob if you can). Because you're calling natural consequences of their actions into being, there's no "revenge" or "karmic backlash" idea associated with this at all - you're just drawing good old Saturn's attention their way, asking for the consequences of actions and attitudes to be made manifest and realized on the material plane.

Cauda Draconis - Cauda Draconis generally means misfortune and the need to "pay the piper." It often signifies endings. This oil can be used to help you channel the energy of this geomantic figure to end an unpleasant situation, such as a truly crappy relationship where you have been seriously wronged and you have to cut all ties to get away. Caution: there's really no mending the bridges you burn with this oil, so don't use it lightly. If you're in a muddy situation where you are partially at fault as well, this isn't your best bet, because the energy this brings is all about people getting what's coming to them so the books can be balanced. So don't be surprised if you have to do some bookkeeping yourself.

Conjunctio - Conjunctio is associated with conjunctions - the coming together of people, things, or situations. Conjunctio oil can help you find something or someone you've lost, help connect you to an influential person or desirable situation, and help bring about marriages or partnerships. This is a "right place at the right time" formula.

Fortuna Major - Fortuna Major is associated with just what it sounds like - major fortune. Do you need great good fortune, especially in new beginnings? Are you in the public eye on a new endeavor and need everything to fall into place on this one? This oil's for you.

Fortuna Minor - In geomancy, Fortuna Minor is associated with ongoing, though perhaps moderate, success, and having good people interested in your well-being and willing to help you. In other words, while this might not be the oil for the high-powered, aggressive CEO, or the person trying to break into an acting job, it's a great oil for someone who works in the background and needs to keep from being overlooked. If you work backstage, literally or figuratively, and want to make sure the Big Names don't forget who's doing all the hard work behind the scenes, this blend can help. It's also useful when you are in a situation that is threatening to change and you want things to stay like they are (ie, layoffs are coming up and you want to keep your job, or your lover's eye is straying and you want it back on you).

Laetitia - Laetitia is the figure associated with joy and happiness. Use this oil to find, maintain, and/or celebrate the joy and happiness in your life. Having trouble counting your blessings? Need help keeping your sense of perspective? Starting out on a new path to find and follow your bliss? This oil is for you. It can also be given as a meaningful gift for birthdays, anniversaries, and other treasured and memorable events.

Populus - In geomancy, Populus is the figure associated with people, crowds, and groups. When this figure turns up in your reading, it can indicate that the outcome of the situation is not entirely in your control but instead depends somewhat on the will or opinion of other people. Got a court case coming up? Job interview? Big speech? Need to get the office cliques to see your side? Just need to stand out in a crowd? This is the oil for you.

Puella - Puella is associated with beauty, music, and the arts. While this figure can indicate a situation that is a bit changeable or a person that is a bit fickle in love affairs, it's a pleasant association, and much of the fickleness vanishes when you apply these energies to situations among or between women. Thus I've found this to be a useful oil for those who work with a lot of women, who are working with this energy for creative and artistic endeavors (rather than romantic ones), and for lesbians who are playing the dating game.

Puer - Puer is the figure associated with the energy of new beginnings. Puer means "boy" in Latin, and this oil can help you channel that boyish, excited energy into your own endeavors. If you need to apply energy, enthusiasm, and a good-nature competition to your situation, this oil is for you. Some of the more boyish and competitive elements are reduced when this oil is used for situations among or between men, so this oil is also useful for gay men entering or re-entering the dating scene who seek to attract new relationships.

Rubeus - Rubeus is a dark and multifaceted figure. Associated with Mars and thus with violence and warfare, it is associated with danger, addiction, passion, aggression, and lust (on many levels). However, you can channel the energies of Rubeus in cases where you need to make a strong show of force, whether in the boardroom or in the bedroom. It's powerful, sexy, and dangerous. You could also use this oil as part of a larger ritual working to overcome your destructive passions or addictions - in other words, "fighting fire with fire." Not for the faint of heart or for those without the courage of their convictions. Note: this formula contains real Dragon's Blood resinoid, which by the way does not smell like that artificial, sweet dragon's blood fragrance oil, and it will need to be shaken before use.

Tristitia - Tristitia signifies sadness. It can mean problems with depression, emotional pain, and stress. Often, it indicates the need for counseling, or, more generally, a sympathetic shoulder to lean on or ear to confide in. If you need help dealing with sadness, grief, and pain, or don't feel like you're being listened to and understood, this oil can help you channel the energy of Tristitia for help in those matters. If there's a dearth of sympathy in your life, this oil's for you - but please use it in conjunction with mundane measures such as seeking pastoral or psychological help if necessary.

Via - Via is the figure associated with paths, roads, and passages. When this figure turns up in your reading, it can indicate a journey or that you need to find your direction or path in a situation. If you've been blocked in your endeavors, if you feel you're at a dead end, if you've hit a brick wall and can't see a new route, invoke the forces of Via to help you. If you need to take a journey, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, and need guidance or directions, this is the oil for you.
